I have never been one of those women who own a different handbag to go with every outfit. I usually find one purse that has the versatility to go with my blue jeans as well as my limited evening-wear. However, one night while doing a little internet shopping, I decided it was time to replace the purse I had been carrying for over a year and went in search of secure websites that sell handbags...
I was blown over by the amount of choices I had! I found designer bags by Vera Bradley, Marc Jacobs, Dooney and Bourke and Juicy Couture, to name just a few, as well as cheap bags from Target and other super stores. I knew it would be nearly impossible to choose just one bag from so many, so I decided to start small and work my way up. I was more of a tote or hobo bag kind of girl, but the smaller clutch bags caught my eye as an alternative to carrying a large bag. However, with a clutch I was afraid that I would set it down somewhere and lose it. That's when I saw it and knew that I had to make room for the wristlet.
Wristlets are small clutch bags that have a strap that goes around the wrist, which is usually removable. They can be considered a purse or a wallet and can be found in leather, straw, linen, suede and wool. Some of my favorites are the Metal Check Groovee Bag or the Small Classic Q by Marc Jacobs. Coach has the Celeste fold over and the straw wristlet seen in the Hamptons Archive along with the White Coach, which is timeless.
There are many more designer bags that left me breathless and wanting for more, but these are also quite expensive purses. You can also find many sites that sell designer replicas and that frequently run sales on their merchandise if the designer bags are too costly.
Not wanting to put all my eggs in one basket, I decided on a Marc Jacobs Classic Q at 20% off and even had enough money to spare so that I could splurge on a coin purse to match. I was pretty proud of my shopping expedition and plan to return time and again so that I can keep up on the styles and watch for sales that I just can't pass up.
Online shopping has introduced me to a world of convenience that just can't be beat. I don't have to circle the parking lot for an hour just to go into a store where I am fighting the crowds and walking until my legs ache. Instead, I can sit down with my glass of iced tea, lean back and enjoy the display that I have chosen. It just doesn't get much better than this, other than actually finding your perfect handbag and knowing there is no one who will snatch out from under you from across the aisle! While waiting for my wristlet clutch to arrive, I am sure I will find many more perfect bags and who knows? Maybe I will become one of those women who have a handbag for every occasion!
